چکیده

Methods Oxylipins were extracted from 197 cord blood plasma samples from the ENVIRONAGE (ENVIRonmental influence ON AGEing in early life) birth cohort in Belgium. Thirty-seven specific oxylipins reflecting the cyclooxygenase (COX), lipoxygenase (5-LOX and 12/15LOX) and cytochrome P450 (CYP) metabolic pathways were quantified by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS/MS). Principal component analysis and multiple regression models were applied to associate oxylipin pathways as well as individual metabolites with in utero PM2.5 exposure, while adjusting for newborns gender, gestational duration, maternal age, maternal smoking status, maternal BMI, and cord blood total cholesterol and HDL levels.

Pmn-18: The Effect of Ambient Air Pollution on Infertility

Development disorders may be arisen from the unavoidable maternal exposure to particulate air pollution during the prenatal life that can be affected not only periconceptional period but also postnatal life. A kind of chemical material categorized as air pollutants are present in the urine, blood and semen of exposed men and may decline sperm count and affect sperm quality. Environment toxic ca...

Association of Exposure to Fine Particulate Matter and Risk Factors of Non-Communicable Diseases in Children and Adolescents

Background: Risk factors of non-communicable disease (NCD) origin from early life, and exposure to environmental pollutant may be a predisposing factor. This study aimed to investigate the association of air quality index (AQI) and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) with some NCD risk factors in a sample of Iranian children and adolescents. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was con...

Neonatal Cord Blood Oxylipins and Exposure to Particulate Matter in the Early-Life Environment: An ENVIRONAGE Birth Cohort Study

BACKGROUND As part of the lipidome, oxylipins are bioactive lipid compounds originating from oxidation of different fatty acids. Oxylipins could provide a new target in the developmental origins model or the ability of early life exposure to change biology. OBJECTIVES We studied the association between in utero PM2.5 (particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter < 2.5 μm) exposure and oxylipi...

Association between umbilical cord blood laboratory findings with early onset neonatal sepsis

Backgrounds: Finding an efficient biomarker or combination of them as predictors of early-onset neonatal sepsis is very important. On the other hand, the use of umbilical cord blood samples in laboratory tests, along with its simplicity and availability, reflects neonate metabolic status.   Background and Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between umbilical cord bloo...

Newborn sex-specific transcriptome signatures and gestational exposure to fine particles: findings from the ENVIRONAGE birth cohort

BACKGROUND Air pollution exposure during pregnancy has been associated with adverse birth outcomes and health problems later in life. We investigated sex-specific transcriptomic responses to gestational long- and short-term exposure to particulate matter with a diameter < 2.5 μm (PM2.5) in order to elucidate potential underlying mechanisms of action. METHODS Whole genome gene expression was i...
